- Russia and Putin are proving to be more intransigent than Washington had hoped. Both President Obama and Trump have worked hard to do “resets” with Russia. Each found it difficult. President Trump is now threatening more sanctions to get Putin to move towards peace with Ukraine. I believe both Obama and Trump are certainly right to try diplomatic approaches.
