- The tax bill passed the Senate and will move to the House. The bill passed the Senate by a 50 to 50 vote with JD Vance having to cast the tie breaking vote. Three Republican senators voted against the bill. The bill, which is quite different than the original House bill, now goes back to the House for reconciliation. The original version of the House bill passed by one vote. Thus, in the reconciliation of the bills, the President can’t afford to lose one vote. It’s a fascinating situation because a Republican in the house who votes against it faces political death in the Republican Party.
