  • NVIDIA, which is down 2.23% year to date, announces earnings this Wednesday. The markets are looking for data on how much restrictions on sales to China will hurt Nvidia sales.

    “CEO Jensen Huang, who pegged the market for AI chips in China at roughly $50 billion next year, said last week Nvidia had walked away from $15 billion of sales in the country after the curbs.” WSJ.

  • Apple is in the President’s crosshairs. Apple apparently employs nearly 3 million people directly or indirectly in China. It’s working to become less dependent on China but a good deal of that means moving production to India. The President has threatened 25% tariffs on iPhones if more of that manufacturing doesn’t move to the US. The concept of tariffs on a specific product seems challenging. A new book called “Apple in China” is out and it’s supposed to be a great read.
  • Apple is down nearly 22% year to date and has fallen behind each Microsoft and Nvidia in market cap.
